Debian djbdns

News: See here for Debian sid/lenny (unstable/testing) versions of the packages listed below.
djbdns is a secure, reliable replacement for BIND. It is open source and free software, see Dan J Bernstein's web page for djbdns, his Information for distributors, and Software user's rights.

Please note that this binary package does not comply with the Debian Policy (Section 2.1.1 and 10.1.1) and so is not part of Debian GNU/Linux.

I warrant that I have made a good-faith attempt to ensure that the package behaves correctly.

Additionally there is a package djbdns-doc that provides html-documentation and man pages for djbdns.
The binary package djbdns depends on daemontools-run and ucspi-tcp.
You can download the packages, or add
 deb http://smarden.org/pape/Debian/ sarge unofficial
 deb-src http://smarden.org/pape/Debian/ sarge unofficial
to /etc/apt/sources.list on Debian/sarge, or
 deb http://smarden.org/pape/Debian/ woody unofficial
 deb-src http://smarden.org/pape/Debian/ woody unofficial
to /etc/apt/sources.list on Debian/woody, and run
 # apt-get update
Then install the package as usual with apt-get, dpkg or dselect, e.g.:
 # apt-get install djbdns djbdns-doc
Please note that if you upgrade from an -src or -installer package found in the non-free or contrib section of Debian, running configurations probably must be changed if they use absolute path names.
If you use the packages regularly, please contribute to the project.

There is a mailing list you should join when installing these packages. To subscribe send an empty email to <debian-packages-subscribe@list.smarden.org>.
